| Lorraine Lamond was born in Dumfries and studied at Glasgow School of Art, graduating with a first class honours degree in 1986. Since then she has developed her love of stained glass in her own unique style of working which combines the traditional medieval techniques of etching and staining, with her own very contemporary and painterly vision, which builds upon her strong sense of context, composition and form.
All of her work is founded upon a strong base of thorough research, whether for secular or ecclesiastical settings. This process begins with consultation and development of ideas with the commisioning body. From this a further process begins, with the creative process continuing into the actual working of the glass, culminating in the completion and installation of the works.
